Dear Families,
There is a THUNDERBOLT THINKING sign in every classroom at 75 Morton. It reads:
I am on time to class.
I attempt all tasks and ask for help when I need it.
I participate in the lesson.
I am engaged in the lesson.
At 75 Morton we use these seemingly simple goals to set classroom and school culture. Every family has its traditions. As we build traditions for the 75 Morton family, we are repeating successful events and celebrations. We are heading into our third year with a small but growing list of ways to celebrate our students, families, and staff.
The Thunderbolt Thinking list is one way we do this. We use a common language and clear expectations to support our students in becoming responsible learners and members of our community. Our work is to set up classroom environments that build this community. We are always working on a culture of sharing ideas, solutions, answers, and questions. That is 75 Morton.
Although it is early in the year, we are beginning our tours for prospective middle school families. It is amazing that after the first full week of school we are ready to go public! We are ready to show off our instruction, our engaged students, and our beautiful school.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the PTA meeting on Tuesday and at Curriculum Night on Thursday. We hope both meetings give you more insight into 75 Morton and the year ahead. The details are listed below.
