FAQS

WHEN CAN I ATTEND A TOUR OR OPEN HOUSE?

Tours will be available in September and October.

Please check back in for dates when they are announced.

WHEN CAN I APPLY? WHAT IS THE DEADLINE?

The date for the middle school application for students entering middle school in fall 2024 has not been announced yet.

on what basis are students admitted?

Admission to M.S. 297 is by zone or screen. Students who live in the geographic zone and choose 75 Morton are admitted automatically - if they rank the school first, or if they are not admitted to other schools they have ranked higher. There are a limited number of slots for students outside the zone.

The M.S. 297 zone includes most of the west side of School District 2, from W. 59th St. south to Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Tribeca and Battery Park City.

75 Morton also has a screened program for accelerated learning. Students are admitted to this program based upon the end-of-year grades for 4th grade.

Students must apply to each program individually.

WHAT IS THE ADMISSIONS RUBRIC?

Per DOE guidelines, zoned public middle school programs in District 2 will not use academic records, auditions, or other screens or assessments to evaluate or admit students. Screened programs do use academic records.

  • If a school has more applicants than available seats, offers will be made using admissions priorities and randomly assigned numbers (a lottery).

Please keep in mind, slots for students outside of the zone are limited and filled only after we meet our obligation to enroll all zoned students.
