Dear Families,
Welcome Back!
We are looking forward to welcoming back the Blended Learning students for IN-PERSON learning on February 25. Thursday, February 25 and Friday, February 26 will be Cohort B days.
Just a reminder that Wednesday, February 24 will be an ASYNCHRONOUS day of learning for all students as teachers will be at school to prepare for the re-opening.
**Even if you are not new to In-Person Learning, please read all the information sent to you earlier today with your student's Cohort assignment and continue to visit our school website www.75morton.org for the most up to date information.**
Please remember the following:
Doors open at 8AM, students line up at 6’ distance while they wait to be screened. They will still take the stairs in a socially distanced procedure. All students show their Health Screening at the entrance.
6th Graders enter on Morton Street; 7th graders enter on Barrow Street; 8th graders enter on Greenwich Street.
There are now 2 Blended Cohorts (A and B) and 1 Remote Cohort (D) There is no longer a Cohort C.
The POD sizes have increased to 9 students in some classes.
Students will continue to remain in one room throughout the school day.
Students can only remove their mask for eating, at which point they may not talk until the masks are back on their faces.
If a student arrives on the incorrect day, we will call the family so someone can come and pick up the student.
Students arriving late will be escorted to class after the Health Screening. If your student routinely arrives late, we will have a family conference to determine next steps.
If you traveled over the break, you must follow all CDC guidelines for QUARANTINING. Please check the lists of states and rules for traveling outside of the country so you do not put our teachers or students at risk.
All Safety and Health Protocols will still be in place:
Desks will remain 6’ apart
1 student only will use the bathroom at a time
All adults and students may only enter the school with their Covid Health Screen completed and APPROVED
The DOE is sending health professionals to conduct weekly Covid testing. If you have not done so already, you must update your Covid consent form in MyStudent or have your student bring the attached consent form on their first day of in-person learning. Any student who does not have the updated signed form will not be able to attend school in person.
The biggest change is a new DOE policy. If your child misses more than a week of IN-PERSON learning and it is not due to illness or Covid related, we will be forced to move your child to the D Cohort - 100% REMOTE Learning. If you are choosing to go to fully Remote Learning, please fill out the Learning Preference Survey here and email your confirmation to Ilene@75Morton.org. If you need assistance, please email Ilene at Ilene@75morton.org to request the change.
Please also remember that as the teachers move between classrooms- there is a short time needed for travel and for setting up their teaching station.
It continues to be crucial that you report all suspected and confirmed Covid cases to your child’s advisor. We anticipate that our school may be in the position to close classrooms and have some remote instructional days in response to adult or student Covid cases. We will follow the NYC DOE protocols for reporting.
Thank you as always for your support and kindness as we navigate this constantly changing educational terrain as a 75 Morton TEAM.
With Respect,
Jacqui, Katie, and Ilene
