Dear Families,
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK- it is official this week although I am well aware that I have been leaning into this topic heavily since last March!
I am speechless at times when friends ask me- “How will teachers fix the Pandemic learning gaps this coming fall?” I would be elated to hear- “So much has been asked of teachers these past months- let’s hope they recharge over the summer and come back ready for the fall.”
These are the weeks that have us thinking ahead to September and those precious first weeks of establishing community norms, and starting new relationships. Our staff is aware of the work that will need to be done all of next year as they design the 2021-2022 curriculum in ways that are responsive and flexible. We will live in a cycle that will simultaneously involve: teaching/assessing/supporting/challenging and then reviewing and revising throughout the coming year. Much of the work will be in the moment as we see and determine how these past 14 school months have affected our children.
I think it is clear to our community that the 75 Morton staff have proven (as usual) that they are ready to do this daunting job. But, no one can work without a very real sense of APPRECIATION. You, the families of 75 Morton, have been astoundingly gracious, kind, and supportive. I am seriously taken aback by how lucky we are to work alongside you. Except for a few cranky emails and phone calls, I can honestly say that this year continues to be a successful team effort. For that, we APPRECIATE all of you.
The unbelievable PTA is hosting a lunch for the staff next week- on the roof! It will be a beautiful and welcomed gesture for the staff of 75 Morton who we adore, and who we hope rest during July and August!
With Respect,
Jacqui
