Dear Families,
This week we experienced a historic moment - Ketanji Brown Jackson became the first Black woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court. I believe it is important to pause, reflect, and celebrate this appointment. It is incredible to see a Black woman take such a powerful position in our country!
In her speech on Friday, Judge Brown Jackson said, "in my family, it took just one generation to go from segregation to the Supreme Court of the United States." Her words remind us that we are only a short time removed from separate bathrooms, water fountains, and schools. Her words also remind us that fighting for what's right and what we believe in matters - we can see a momentous change in a single lifetime.
75 Morton is the dream and the hope of families who fought for equal education for all. Her appointment inspires me and reminds me of the importance of our school. I hope it inspires you as well.
Best,
Valerie
